We start with hundreds (100), tens (10), and ones (1).
For example, 273 = 2 hundreds + 7 tens + 3.
The right side is called expanded form. The left side is called standard form.
98 = 9 tens + 8 ones
The standard form of this number is the digits in the expanded form : 121
Here there are no tens, so we write it as 3 hundreds + 0 tens + 5 ones, which becomes 305.
